In 2002 after many years of trying for a child, Michael and his wife adopted a 3 week old baby, Gabrielle. As they had waited for so long for a child and his wife had benefits with her job, Michael decided to quit work and be Mr. Mom vs. putting Gabby into childcare. He stayed home for the first 3 years, and then worked part time until she was in grade school. From kindergarten to 5th grade, Michael took his little girl to school everyday, went on field trips, park trips and to the zoo. For Michael being with his family and enjoying time with them was his life.
On Wednesday 7th November Michael had to go to Urgent Care for general malaise--no appetite, dehydration and lack of energy. He was given fluids, they took blood and he went home. On Thursday, he visited his primary care doctor who prescribed various supplements that were missing during blood work to increase energy. On Friday Michael entered the ER demonstrating little improvement physically, even though the supplements had corrected deficiencies found the day before. As this time he also complained of headache, a CAT scan was ordered.
The CAT scan revealed an enormous, cancerous tumor that was pressing on Michael's brain. Seizures followed causing a coma, and Michael passed away early on Saturday the 10th November. Michael's body remained connected to life support for 3 days to fulfill Michael's wish to be an organ donor. Surgery for organ donation revealed the tumor was a Grade IV. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) ), also called glioblastoma--one of the deadliest types of brain tumors
Michael was 44 years old. He had no life insurance or policies that would take care of his family if this event happened. He is survived by his wife and ten year old Gabrielle. Please help us raise money to provide a trust fund for Gabrielle.
