Dear friends and family,
Our parents, Bruce and Liz, are in need of your support to help cover the high medical costs of a Bone Marrow Transplant. In addition to the insurance out of pocket deductibles and caps for the transplant, they will have to get a second insurance policy to cover the prescriptions. It's also necessary for them to live in Seattle, at the clinic's apartments, for four months during the recovery process. Bruce's doctors and staff have gone over the finances with the family, and we have learned that these costs could accumulate upwards of $30,000.
Bruce's medical history goes back to 1999, when he was rushed to the hospital with Pancreatitis, which also resulted in him developing Type 1 Diabetes. In 2004 he was again not feeling well, and after several blood tests, it was discovered that he had developed Leukemia. He fortunately has been able to live a somewhat active life the past 8 years until now.(If you consider fishing a sport, this guy is quite the athlete!)
In June, Bruce started to notice that doing simple, every day things such as walking or having long conversations became quite difficult. It was back to the hospital for him! Further testing confirmed an unfortunate turn of events, and we were told that he now has MDS and needs a stem cell transplant. After months of low energy and blood transfusions, a donor has been found and the transplant date is scheduled for early December. Our family is now focusing on the positive side of these latest developments. We have placed our faith and trust in God to see us through this long ordeal and have confidence in the exceptional doctors at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/Fred Hutchinson Center. Successful results from the Bone Marrow Transplant will not only cure the MDS, but the Leukemia as well!!
We sincerely thank you in advance, for any help you are able to do, from attending our Fundraisers, (see below), to any amount of a monetary donation, and most importantly, your prayers and positive thoughts.
Love, The Crouch Family
