Recently, after a routine physical, Fred was shocked to hear that he had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was immediately admitted to the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital for an intensive seven day course of chemotherapy which required him to stay in-patient for one month. Fred’s aggressive leukemia requires a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. The next step in the process will be to identify a life-saving donor through the Be The Match Registry. If we are lucky enough to find that special person, the transplant will be conducted at Memorial Sloan Kettering and will require Fred to stay in NYC, away from home, for approximately three months.
Fred, Kirsten and and their 10-year old son Fisher need assistance with medical expenses, lost income and living expenses in NYC during this treatment. In addition to your kind monetary donation, please register to potentially be a bone marrow donor with Be the Match at www.bethematch.org. You could help save Fred's life...or someone elses.
