This is Nick's Mom.
Please help Nicky with a financial donation.
I'm asking for donations to cover the costs of treatment (not covered by health insurance) that will support Nick's recovery and rehabilitation from the devastating effects 2 new malignant brain tumors and radiation treatment caused, such as extreme fatigue and inability to digest food, which greatly impacts Nick's ability to function.
Nick's last MRI in January 2017, showed no new cancer growth. This was after undergoing 6 weeks of radiation and chemo. So now the next battle is with the scars which are the physical and mental effects of radiation and chemo.
Nick's been having to endure extreme-debilitating-physical and mental fatigue, in addition to how the tumors and radiation have also slowed down his digestive tract.
Triumphing over cancer is not the only battle. Next battle is to get mind and body to work- doing the simplest of tasks, such as eating, digesting food, exercising, reading, playing a video game,
watching a movie on a laptop, or just meeting a friend for coffee- exchanging conversations- All or any of the
above before his mental and physical energy give out. Fatigue has become the new challenge. Chemo and Radiation killed cancer- and healthy cells as well. Fatigue and inability to digest and enjoy food are the side affects that plague Nick's every day life. Needless to say how all of that impacts friendships and a social life as well.
Recovery and Healing needs to take place.
It's a slow process. Nick's doctor of integrative medicines created
a regimen of supplements administered via IVs twice per week for 3 months that would support Nick's body to begin this next journey of healing and recovery and moving forward to living a productive life with purpose.
Treatment and costs include:
IV supplements, twice per week for 3 months. Cost: $175 per treatment.
Acupuncture twice per month for 3 months, $100 per session.
Massage twice per month for 3 months
$50 per session
Follow up Doctor visit once per month
For 3 months $65 each
Doctor follow up visits $195
Total cost for treatment $2,595
In summary here are my own thoughts and explanations and plan:
Now that I have explained and described in the above paragraphs what are my son's challenges, I will explain the steps he needs to take to recover and rehabilitate himself.
Nick will be engaging himself in daily walks, and yoga type stretching, which have to be paced according to when he has energy and before mental and physical fatigue takes over.
A daily routine meal plan that includes eating relatively healthy, and simple foods that might easily be digested... which includes simple fiber, proteins and greens (when tolerated). Eating must be every two hours, so it would hopefully be gentle on the digestive tract.
He will be undergoing supplements and vitamins via IV (intravenously) as shown and explained above, in order to bypass his digestive tract to insure he gets nutrition. The particular vitamins and supplements are to rebuild Nick's healthy cells that were killed while undergoing radiation and chemo which killed cancer cells and along with the healthy cells also.
Dr. Charles Moss, doctor of Integrative Medicine is the very best doctor... in fact, the best we have encountered over any oncologist or specialist at the cancer center (which is known as one of the best). I myself have known Doctor Moss for over 15 years. I trust him more than any doctor or health practitioner I have known.
He is the first doctor who addressed what is going on- what is the root cause of Nick's fatigue and his digestive health problems. He gave us answers and created a plan for recovery and healing.
The IV supplements are the beginning.
Once Nick begins to feel better, there will be acupuncture, massage and other supplements added.
All of the above is the reason for re-creating this Everribbon site for Nick.
His needs have changed as he moves forward along his journey from cancer to recovery and rehabilitation.
The IV supplements and the other treatments are not covered by insurance. Yet they are crucial to Nick's success with his recovery.
He needs all the help he can get. He continues with the fight of his life and for his life.
I am asking for help with donations that would make the above mentioned treatments happen ( IV supplements, acupuncture, massage, and vitamins and supplements, followup office visits with the doctor, etc. ) These treatments are crucial to Nick's recovery and rehabilitation from cancer treatment.
Any amount is helpful, even just $5.
There is also an option to remain anonymous when you donate.
Thank you in advance from me, a mom who loves her son so much and who feels Nick has so much more to live and to give and who has so much purpose in this life.
