The University of Vermont Hikes the Long Trail in ONE Weekend
***If you are participating in the hike with a club/organization, please be sure to put your CLUB/ORGANIZATION'S NAME in the "Add a comment!" section. Thank you!***
Sponsored by the UVM Outing Club
The 1st Annual Catamountain Classic is a community event involving about forty clubs, organizations and groups on campus! The goal is to hike the entirety of the Long Trail in one weekend! Each organization will be assigned a predetermined section of the 273-mile Long Trail. Routes will vary in difficulty and mileage and reflect the requests of the clubs participating. The clubs will be responsible for recruiting a hiking team of between four and ten people. The Catamountain Classic is a school event that's bound to become a college tradition like no other!
A small registration fee and money raised will go towards a scholarship for Burlington youth to attend a NOLS or Outward Bound course in loving memory of Avi Kurganoff, an avid Outing Club Leader, Kayak Clubber, DREAM Mentor, Alternative Spring Break member and a member of the Dewey House for Civic Engagement who passed away earlier this year. Avi was an adventurer who impacted nearly every person he met and wanted to devote himself to working with underprivileged youth.
Those who are unable to participate but would still like to donate toward the outdoor education scholarship in memory of Avi are more than welcome to do so.
Thank you in advance for your support!
