For six years, the people of Denton have been working to keep dangerous fracking away from our homes. We demanded regulations, they were broken without accountability. We voted, and our “representatives” silenced our vote. Today, we are enforcing our ban - the one we voted for - and we need your support.
On June 1, Vantage Energy violated our ban by initiating fracking at a site on Nail Rd. This is a big moment for our community. We find ourselves in this position because all institutional avenues of change have failed us. When the powers that be fail to respond to the needs of the people, our movements are forced to move to redefine power and where it lies.
The story of our fight for a livable Denton isn’t over, but we are entering a new chapter, one that will require greater creativity, wider engagement of the community, and lots of cooperation as we work together and learn together. Blackland Prairie Rising Tide is raising money for legal fees, trainings, workshops and other events.
TOGETHER WE WILL ENFORCE OUR BAN.
